For some time now, I've been wanting to write about the God-given characteristics that have been given to women; what these characteristics are, how we can use them for good & why it is important to preserve these feminine qualities in an ever-changing world in which being a woman isn't always respected or valued.
I've been afraid to write about this topic. I know it is controversial. I know that my views will offend some people. I know that not everyone believes what I believe...and I understand why. But I feel that sharing my feelings about being a woman could possibly help someone. I know that it will help me. And I really feel that this is something that God wants me to write about.
I am LDS, more commonly known as "Mormon". I grew up in the LDS church, and chose to commit myself to this religion when I was a child. That commitment hasn't changed. I have never doubted that the teachings of the LDS church are true. I have no problem sharing spiritual experiences or posting quotes from LDS church leaders on Facebook. I've always thought of myself as willing to share my beliefs freely.
As I have been reading our church's General Conference talks lately, a common theme has struck me with some force: DEFEND WHAT I KNOW TO BE RIGHT. I realized that I need to do more. I need to stand up for my values with no apologies, and be willing to share my voice with the world. I need to be bold in what I say.
I want this blog to be a place where women can come to be uplifted. I want to help each other, as women in a difficult position in this world. I want to encourage and inspire and protect our divine role as daughters of God. I hope you'll follow me on this journey and share your insights and thoughts with me. Being a woman is a privilege, and I know that through learning more about how to use our inherent gifts to help others, we will help ourselves in the process.
-Sincerely,
ANJANE'
Anjane' thanks for sharing your passion with us, I whole heartedly agree with you!! This quote is one of my all time favorite,
ReplyDelete"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity."
